Hockey: North Stars split matchup with New Ulm

The Breezy Point North Stars split a home-and-home against the New Ulm Steel, beginning with a 5-3 victory at home on "Hockey Fights Cancer" night on Friday, Dec. 1.

In pink-accented uniforms, and even on pink ice, on Friday, the Stars jumped out to a 3-0 by the fifth minute of the second period on goals by Reid Morin, Larsen Tubbs and Dylan Borseth.

The Steel finally answered late in the second period, but Breezy Point's Josh Maucieri scored the game-winning goal 95 seconds into the third and Tubbs scored an empty-net goal in the final minute of the game to seal a victory.

Goalie Bronson Moore recorded 33 saves in the game.

At New Ulm on Saturday, Dec. 2, Maucieri scored an early goal but the scoring stopped there as the Steel topped the Stars 6-1.
