Northern Lakes senior goaltender Madison Galligan stopped 16 of the 17 shots she faced in the Lightning's 4-1 Mid-State Conference win over the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek Blue Devils on Thursday, Jan. 29.
Mariah Reed, Hannah Zimmerman, Bella Abear and Sam Gutzman scored for the Lightning.
"It was a nice win and our girls pretty much played a full game," said Lightning coach Kristin Harsha. "It has been a while since we've been able to capitalize on our shots."
The Lightning, 2-4 in the conference and 7-17 overall, were scheduled to play Alexandria in the regular season finale on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and then open the Section 6A quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 7.
"The girls are looking forward to the playoffs," said Harsha. "Im thinking we will be a third or fourth seed. It might defend on how we do in our final game (vs. Alexandria)."

Seedings will set to be announced on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
The Blue Devils drop to 1-5 in the conference and 10-14 overall.

On Thursday, Jan. 29, Carly Fyle found the net for the Northern Lakes' only goal in a Mid-State Conference loss to the Lakers.
Bella Abear and Hannah Zimmerman assisted on Fyle's score which gave the Lightning an early 1-0 lead before Hailey Sonstegard put in three straight goals to secure the Laker win.
Galligan made 16 saves for the Lightning, who were outshot 19-14.
