Gymnastics: Brainerd Elites host Hollywood Stars meet

The Brainerd Elites hosted the Sartell Sapphire teams at the first Hollywood Stars Elite Meet Jan. 3 at Brainerd High School.

Team One from the Brainerd Elites scored 131.05 points to win the gold division. Sapphire Silver placed second with a 120.6, Brainerd Elites Team Two placed third with 117.15 and fourth was Sapphire Blue with a 110.3.

Sapphire Gold won the silver division with a 102.2, Brainerd Elites Team Three was second with a 101.65 and Sapphire White finished third with a 96.5.

The Brainerd Elites is made up of 23 youth gymnasts on three competitive teams, which are part of the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA). MAGA is a feeder program for junior varsity and varsity high school gymnastics teams. Their season runs from November to March.

Out of 128 MAGA teams, Elites Team 3 is ranked 91st, Elites Team 2 is ranked 44th and Elites Team 1 is ranked seventh.

The Elites are coached by Tessa Helland, Seth Helland, Claire LePage and Bodie Brooks.
