On a wet morning, the Black Bear Ladies League played Reverse Your Score. Cathy Switajewski and Jane Bigyalk tied for 1st place. Eileen Springer won 2nd place. Cathy Switajewski had a birdie on No. 9 and Jane Bigyalk had 13 putts to win low putts.

Whitefish Women's League

The First Place Team, with net 118, was Anita Stensby, Mimi Swanson, Judy Eastwood and a blind draw. In Second Place, with Net 125, was team Liz Brandanger, Deb Enger, Diane Giefer and Ginnie Sitzer. Third Place was a 3-way tie at net 126, with the tiebreaker being the net score on the last 9 holes. The result put team Pat Kline, Susan Finley Nancy McEnroe and Joi Brandt in Third Place (net 65 on back 9) and team Cathy Munger, Cheryl Bontrager, Katie Deeg, and Marguerite Baker in Fourth Place (net 69 on the back 9).

Low Net for the day was also a tie, with both Diane Giefer and Nancy McEnroe shooting net 64! Great rounds!

Cathy Munger had the only chip in, which was for a birdie too, on Hole No.5. But there were birdies galore! Birdies were carded by Marty Moakley (No.12), Nancy McEnroe (No.3 and No.15), Liz Brandanger (No.3 and No.18), Helen McGrath (No.15), Susan Walstrom (No.12), Mimi Swanson (No.6) and Cathy Munger got a second birdie for the day on No.18.

There will be regular league play on Wednesday, Aug. 10, followed by the two-day League Championships the following week on Aug. 16-17 and the WOW (Women of Whitefish) event on Thursday, Aug. 25. (There is no regular league event on Wednesday, Aug. 24).

Breezy Point women's league'

Sue Skinner captured low gross honors and Chris Bjornson was low net in the first flight when the Breezy Point women's league played the first day of their 2-day league tournament Aug. 4 at Whitebirch.

In the second flight Joi Brandt took low gross honors and Gloria Thomas was low net.

Martha Polsfuss was the low gross winner and Judy Jenson paced the low net competition in the third flight.

In the fourth flight, Janie Pommer was the low gross winner and Bugs Schmidt secured low net honors.

Hole-in-one

Barnaby Allen made a hole-in-one at the Classic at Maddens on Aug. 1. He made the hole-in-one on Hole No. 17, a par 3, from 148 yards using an 8 iron.

Melinda Brown, West St. Paul, aced the 133-yard 11th hole at Golden Eagle Golf Club Aug. 9 using a 7-wood.
