Ramsey Tulenchik turned in a game-high 17 points for the third-seeded Pine River-Backus Tigers, who edged the No. 2 seeded Browerville/Eagle Valley Tigers 56-49 in the West Subsection 5-1A semifinals Friday, March 19.
Olivia Adkins added 16 and Rylie Hirschey had 15 for PR-B as the Tigers bounced back with their second straight victory after winning one of their previous nine games.
Free throws were the difference as PR-B converted 28 of 35 compared to 5-11 for BEV. Adkins was 14-of-16 from the line while Hirschey hit 7-of-8 and Tulenchik 7-of-11.
The Tigers were scheduled to face No. 1 Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in the West Subsection 5-1A finals Tuesday, March 23.

Hirschey exploded for 34 points to power the No. 3 seeded Pine River-Backus Tigers to a 69-44 victory over No. 6 Sebeka in the West Subsection 5-1A quarterfinals Wednesday, March 17.
Adkins and Tulenchik each tallied 10 for PR-B which improved to 11-8 and advanced to the subsection semifinals.
