Krista Fogerty of Pequot Lakes finished first in the female division while 16-year-old Sam Selisker was the male and overall champion at the annual Paul Bunyan Extreme 5k event on Saturday, July 12, at Mount Ski Gull.
The 38-year-old Fogerty covered the course in 41 minutes, 18 seconds while Sherry Johnson, a 49-year-old competitor from Merrifield, was second in 41:47.

Other top area female finishes were Lisa Fiebiger of Pequot Lakes, eighth in 43:41; Wendy Rickard of Pequot Lakes, 12th in 44:50; Sarah Adams of Pequot Lakes, 15th in 46:48; Hope Brandon of Pine River, 16th in 47:32; Kendra Johnson of Crosslake, 18th in 48:24; Sandi Niccum of Nisswa, 21st in 49:04; Val Schultz of Walker, 26th in 51:25; Theresa Henning of Hackensack, 27th in 51:25; Stephanie Ecles of Nisswa, 29th in 51:35; Erin John of Breezy Point, 31st in 51:59; and Riley Fogarty, 38th in 52:44.
In the male division, Selisker was first in 32:09 while Jeremy Adams of Nisswa was fourth in 33:35. Other area finishers were Jeff McLulloch of Pequot Lakes, sixth in 34:10; Randy Loukota of Pequot Lakes, eighth in 35:44; Tom Burrows of Nisswa, 10th in 37:48; Tristan Borland of Pine River, 11th in 37:50; Harvey Anderson of Nisswa, 26th in 42:43; Tyler Kohlmeier of Nisswa, 30th in 43:08; Chris Breit of East Gull Lake, 33rd in 43:44; Dylan Stumvoll of Pequot Lakes, 34th in 43:50; Westley Mink of Pine River, 34th in 44:30; Jason Day of Backus, 37th in 44:33; Nathan Norton of Pequot Lakes, 43rd in 45:51; and Jon Fogarty of Pequot Lakes, 50th in 46:53.
