Cross country: Tigers first at Pillager Invite

The Pine River-Backus cross country teams both managed an individual and team first-place finish at the Pillager Invitational at Madden's Pine Beach West Course on Thursday, Sept. 22.

The Pine River-Backus cross country teams both managed an individual and team first-place finish at the Pillager Invitational at Madden's Pine Beach West Course on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Luke Downie posted a first-place time of 19:43 to lead the Tiger boys to first. Fellow PR-B runners Torry Hirschey, Luke Sechser, Nick Ackerman and Josh Sechser also earned top 10 finishes.

Sidney Lodge crossed the line in 24:28.2 to pace the PR-B girls to first place as well, and her four teammates - Alexander Hoopman, Mara Adams, Shayna Moore and Isabelle Netland - all cracked the top 10.
