Boys Hockey: W-DC halt Lightning’s comeback

Cole Woods scored the game-winning goal for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 5-4 win over Northern Lakes Thursday, Dec. 30, in the Little Falls Holiday Tournament.

W-DC went up 4-0 in the second period, but the Lightning roared back to tie it 4-4 when Cullen Kratochvil scored at the 8:06 mark of the third period.

Logan Verville, Taylor Berg and Jamison St. Clair all scored for Northern Lakes.

Goalie Ethan Kunz had 23 saves for Northern Lakes.

Zach Ehnstrom scored the game-winning goal at the 1:39 mark in overtime as the Northern Lakes Lightning defeated the Windom Eagles 4-3 in the second round of the Little Falls Holiday Tournament Wednesday, Dec. 29

Darby Boelter recorded a goal and two assists for the Lightning.

Tyler Seeling and Colton Craig each scored a goal for Northern Lakes while Ethan Thomas, St. Clair, Isaac Peterson and Christian Krutcher each tallied an assist.

Nigel DeSanto stopped 19 of 22 shots he faced in net for the Lightning.
