Boys basketball: Bristow named MVP for Tigers

On Thursday, April 8, the Pine River-Backus boys’ basketball team held its year-end banquet, where junior Brady Bristow was named the team’s most valuable player.

On Thursday, April 8, the Pine River-Backus boys’ basketball team held its year-end banquet, where junior Brady Bristow was named the team’s most valuable player.

Bristow led the team with 260 points on the season while shooting 45% from the field and 44% from behind the arc, and earned an all-conference honorable mention.

Champ Howard was named the team’s offensive player of the year, and was PR-B’s sole all-conference award winner.

Irvin Tulenchik and Jared Hamilton were named co-defensive players of the year, while Carson Travis and Rian Struss earned co-rebounders of the year honors.

Kyosuke Marcum was named sixth man of the year, Trevor Hurd was named most improved and Robert Bueckers was named the JV team’s most valuable player.

Andrew Bueckers was the recipient of the Tiger Award.

On the academic side, Hurd, Struss, Tulenchik and Burke Netland were recognized for being on the “A” Honor Roll, while Marcum, Hamilton and Travis were recognized for their status on the “B” Honor Roll.
