Sophomore forward Ramsey Tulenchik powered the Tiger offense with 32 points as the Pine River-Backus girls’ basketball team topped Sebeka 76-35 on Saturday, Jan. 16.
“More than anything, it was just fun to get into a gym again and have a girls’ basketball game,” head coach Tucker Sheley said. “The players were really excited to get out there, and I was really happy with their attitude and effort.”
Tulenchik scored nearly as much as the entire Sebeka team. Riley Hirschey added 15 points for the Tigers while Olivia Adkins and Claire Dahl finished with 11 and 10 respectively.
“We have some excellent senior leadership on the squad, but when you have someone to throw it inside to and have some production, that makes it a lot easier,” Sheley said. “A lot of our offense stemmed from our defense and pushing in transition.”
The girls were scheduled to face Lake of the Woods on Friday, Jan. 15, but that game was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
