Six local boys’ basketball players were honored as a part of the Brainerd Dispatch All-Area Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Two players each from Pequot Lakes and Pine River-Backus were named to the team, and one each from both schools earned an honorable mention.

Players for the all-area team are nominated by their coaches and then selected by the Dispatch Sports Department.



Bode Magnuson, Pequot Lakes junior, guard

Finished with 460 points (16.4 per game), 134 rebounds (4.8 per game), 140 assists (5.0 per game) and 56 steals. He shot 46% (166-359) from the field, 32% (32-100) from 3-point and 68% (96-141) from the free throw line.

Alex Morgan, Pequot Lakes junior, forward

Finished with 373 points (13.3 per game), 148 rebounds (5.3 per game), 42 assists (1.5 per game) and 42 steals. He shot 54% (144-265) from the field and 74% (84-113) from the free throw line.

Brady Raph, Pine River-Backus senior, forward

Finished with 533 points (20.5 per game), 159 rebounds (6.1 per game), 115 assists (4.4 per game) and 49 steals. He shot 41% (178-438) from the field, 33% (72-216) from 3-point and 76% (105-138) from the free throw line.

Louis Bueckers, Pine River-Backus senior, forward

Finished with 355 points (13.1 per game), 182 rebounds (6.7 per game), 86 assists (3.2 per game), 41 steals and 73 blocked shots. He shot 46% (123-268) from the field, 38% (50-132) from 3-point and 81% (59-73) from the free throw line.



Honorable mention

Korey Jackson, Pequot Lakes junior, guard

Finished with 327 points (12.1 per game), 56 rebounds (2.0 per game), 20 assists (0.7 per game) and 22 steals. He shot 40% (105-265) from the field, 38% (82-213) from 3-point and 75% (34-45) from the free throw line.

Champ Howard, Pine River-Backus junior, guard

Finished with 273 points (10.1 per game), 110 rebounds (4.1 per game), 109 assists (4.0 per game), 54 steals and 15 blocked shots. He shot 51% (107-210) from the field, 34% (22-65) from 3-point and 56% (37-66) from the free throw line.
