Pequot Lakes’ Alex Morgan registered 15 points for the No. 4 seeded Patriots as they fell 68-47 to the top-ranked Esko Eskomos the Section 7-2A Quarterfinals Saturday, March 7.

"I thought we played a really good first 15 minutes," Coach Rich Spiczka said. "They had a kid who was unconscious early, but we battled back and were right in it. After that, we definitely weren't our best. (Esko) can beat you in a lot of places. The first time we played them, they were missing one of their starting guards, and he definitely made an impact this time."

Bode Magnuson added 11 points and Daltin Ackerman had eight for the Patriots, who finished the season 19-9 overall.

"Considering we basically had to replace 90% of our production (from the previous season), I think our kids had a great year," Spiczka said. "I don't think anybody on the outside looking in anticipated we would have 19 wins. Going into the last week of the season, we were right there with a chance to get the top seed in the section ... We had a lot of new bodies who had never played varsity before. Our kids did a lot of good things."
