Area Girls Basketball: Tigers grab rare win over Pequot

PEQUOT LAKES—Alyssa Semmler recorded six points and 15 rebounds for the Pine River-Backus Tigers as they beat the Pequot Lakes Patriots 46-39 Thursday, Dec. 13.

Both Gabby Rainwater and Rylie Hirschey added 12 points for the Tigers in the non-conference game.

Olivia Lane was the top scorer for the Patriots with 21 points.

It's the first time PR-B has beaten Pequot since Jan. 5, 2007 when the Tigers posted an almost identical 43-37 win.

VERNDALE—Morgan Glenz scored 15 points to lead Verndale to a 57-39 Park Region Conference victory over Pillager Thursday, Dec.13.

Mardi Ehrmantraut added 13 points and Melissa Hammer followed with 11 as the Pirates shot 55 percent from the field.

Bailey Knoblauch led Pillager with 13 points.
