Pitcher Konnor King struck out three and allowed just two earned runs on four hits and no walks to help the Pine River-Backus Tigers earn a 13-10, 10-2 Northland Conference sweep of Laporte Friday, April 16.

In the 13-10 Game One victory, Rian Struss was 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Connor Tulenchik was 1-3 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored and Dalton Middendorf drove in two runs and scored once himself.

Nolan Olivier pitched the win in relief.

Olivier drove in two runs in the nightcap. Owen Carlson scored three times and Trevor Redding was 1-2 with two runs scored.

A Dalton Middendorf double and a Rian Struss single were the only two hits for Pine River-Backus in a 12-0 Northland Conference loss to Nevis Monday, April 19.

The loss is the first of the season for the Tigers as they fall to 4-1 overall.

Trevor Redding pitched one inning and gave up three runs on two hits.
