Kody Ruedisili had the hottest bat for the Nisswa Lightning who struck down the St. Mathias Devils 19-4 with four home runs Saturday, July 25, in a North division game.

Ruedisili drove in seven runs with three hits, including a double and a home run.

Aaron Jenkins and Jeremiah Piepkorn hit back-to-back homers in a six-run second inning. In the third, Tory Miller singled home a run and Ruedisili’s double scored two more.

The Lightning made it 15-0 with a six-run fourth keyed by a Ruedisili grand slam.

St. Mathias scored twice in the sixth and again in the seventh sandwiched around two more Nisswa runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Jason Roepke also homered for Nisswa. Ruedisili, Sam Jensen, Tyler Wittwer

and Tory Miller all contributed doubles for the Lightning, who outhit the Rebels 14-3 with eight of their hits coming for extra bases.

Starter Brett Jenkins got the win as he struck out four and walked two over four hitless innings.

With the victory, the Lightning secured the No. 1 seed from the North Division, with the Fort Ripley Rebels claiming the No. 2. Nisswa is 4-1 with a makeup game remaining against Aitkin Friday, July 31, while Fort Ripley finishes 4-2. The Lightning and Rebels split the two-game season series.

Under the plan developed for the COVID-19 shortened season, the top two teams in each division advance to the Region 8C tournament starting Aug. 8-9 in Pierz.
