Wolske helps Tigers sweep Bears

Brandon Wolske homered, tripled and doubled with five RBI and three runs scored for the Pine River-Backus Tigers in the nightcap as they swept the Lake of the Woods Bears 7-0 and 11-10 in a Northland Conference doubleheader on Monday, May 14.

Champ Howard recorded a double in Game 2 with three runs scored.

In Game One, Zack Tulenchik went 3-3 with a double and RBI. Nick Ackerman picked up the win on the mound, pitching a two-hit shutout and striking out 11 batters.

PR-B, 7-4 in the conference and 7-5 overall, is scheduled to face Red Lake at noon on Thursday, May 17, at Bemidji State University.

On Thursday, May 10, Brandon Wolske went 2-for-4 with five RBI as Pine River-Backus beat the Northome/Kelliher Mustangs in a Northland Conference game. Logan Gordon also knocked out a triple and Nick Ackerman was 2-4 with three runs and two RBI. Torry Hirschey was 2-3 with three runs and allowed one run on seven hits and two walks over five innings for the win

On Tuesday, May 8, Brandon Wolske drove in Luke Sechser for the only run for Pine River-Backus in a Northland Conference loss to the Blackduck Drakes. Nick Ackerman finished 2-3 for the Tigers.
