The Pine River-Backus Tigers baseball coach Mike Dinnel said that his team is excited to be back on the field after losing the 2020 season to COVID-19.

“It has been two years since we’ve had baseball, and our players are eager to be back playing,” said Dinnel, who has compiled a 30-25 record in four seasons as PR-B’s head coach. “We are a young and inexperienced team, but we have good athletes who are willing and wanting to improve every day. These kids love competing, which makes me optimistic about our season and program.”

Returning letterwinners are Nolan Olivier, Trevor Redding, Owen Carlson and Dalton Middendorf.

Others who could contribute include: Irvin Tulenchik, Corbin Knapp, Rian Struss, Ethan Rugroden, Ryder Compton and Konnor King.

Ben Kinser and Jake Volk are assistant coaches for the Tigers, who finished 4-5 in the Northland Conference and 6-9 overall in 2019.
