Baseball: Patriots win 3 of 6

The Patriot baseball team swept the Park Rapids Panthers after being swept by Aitkin and picking up a win and tie against Crosby-Ironton.

Pequot Lakes’ Sam Rysavy was 5-5 with three doubles, four runs and five RBIs as the Patriots battled for a 13-11 win in Game One of a Mid-State Conference doubleheader over the Park Rapids Panthers Monday, May 3.

In Game Two, Clay Erickson was 1-2 with two RBIs for the Patriots as they beat the Panthers 5-4.

Nic Kotaska was 1-1 with two runs and Caden Nelson struck out three in five innings. He allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks.

In Game One, Erik Larsen, Andrew Villareal, Cole Trottier and Grant Loge all collected two hits. Villareal and Loge scored twice and drove in a run.

PL wins, ties C-I

Kotaska pitched seven innings, allowing only five hits, with 11 strikeouts as the Patriots beat the Crosby-Ironton Rangers 9-2 in Game One of a Mid-State Conference doubleheader Thursday, April 29.

Riggs Magnuson was 2-3 with two RBIs and Rysavy was 1-3 with two RBIs and a run.

Game Two between the Patriots and Rangers ended in a 2-2 tie.

Aitkin sweeps Patriots

Landon Janzen went 2-4 with a double and a home run and five RBIs in Game One of Aitkin’s doubleheader sweep of Pequot Lakes 15-6 and 9-0 Tuesday, April 27.


Bode Magnuson tallied two RBIs and Taevyn Brown ripped a double for Pequot Lakes in Game One.

Carson Kullhem earned the win in 2.2 innings of relief for Aitkin.

In Game Two, Hunter Hills ripped a two-RBI double and Joey Simonson ripped a double in Aitkin’s 9-0 win.
