The Nisswa Lightning are among the final 16 teams in the Class C State Tournament, following a walk-off 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Lake Royals in 10 innings on Saturday, Aug. 27.
The team earned the victory on a bases-loaded, two-out single from Morgan Shepherd in the 10th inning, which drove in the winning run.
Pitcher Scott Sand pitched 8 2/3 innings for the Lightning, striking out two and walking one while allowing three earned runs and seven hits. Nate DeChaine earned the win throwing the final 1.1 innings and striking out four of the five batters he faced.
Shepherd finished 2-4 with two RBIs and Drew Boland was 2-5 with an RBI.
