Apollo edges Lightning skaters

The St. Cloud Apollo boys' hockey team edged the Northern Lakes Lightning 3-1 in non-conference action on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby.

The St. Cloud Apollo boys' hockey team edged the Northern Lakes Lightning 3-1 in non-conference action on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby.

Jake Hyytinen scored the only goal for the Lightning while Northern Lakes netminder Mitch Stangel stopped 45 of 48 shots he faced.

The Lightning, who have just one victory in their past seven games, are 4-7 overall. Northern Lakes was scheduled to play Cambridge-Isanti on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and then host Moose Lake/Willow River on Thursday, Jan. 8, at Breezy Point Arena.
