The Fort Ripley Rebels defeated the Nisswa Lightning 7-4 on Saturday, July 31, to clinch a spot in the Region 8C Tournament.
The Lightning took a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly from Jeremiah Piepkorn early in the third inning, but the Rebels scored the next seven runs - all of them coming in the sixth inning.
Piepkorn accounted for the Lightning's final runs with a three-run home run in the seventh, but it was too little, too late as Fort Ripley managed to hang on for the win.
Eric Bolt took the loss on the mound for the Lightning. He struck out two batters in 6.2 innings of work. Carter Dox pitched in relief, striking out four.
Drew Boland also had two hits for Nisswa.
