The Nisswa Lightning saw its season come to an end on Saturday, Aug. 15, in a 10-2 loss to the Fort Ripley Rebels in the Region 8C Tournament.
The Rebels overwhelmed Nisswa right out the gate, scoring six runs in the first inning including four off of a grand slam. A solo home run in the second inning and a 3-run shot in the fourth gave Fort Ripley a 10-0.
Nisswa’s only earned run came off the bat of Sam Peterson, who hit an RBI double in the sixth inning. An error by the Rebels in the eighth inning gave Nisswa its final run of the game.
Brett Jenkins took the loss on the mound for the Lightning, who finish the shortened season with an overall record of 6-3.
