Pequot Lakes freshman Calia Chaney finished 44th in 1:29.19 as the Brainerd Warrior alpine ski team finished sixth at the state downhill meet Wednesday, March 10, at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.
The Edina girls won the state title with 159 points as Orono was a close second with 157. Brainerd compiled 93 points.
“At the end of the first race our girls were sitting in third and it was anyone’s game,” said Warrior coach Jim Ruttger. “A couple of them had a harder time on the second run, but we will be back next year.”
Brainerd skiers Lauren Kalenberg, who finished 16th, and Brandon Neifert, who was 11th to help the Warrior boys place sixth as a team, each earned all-state honors for the second consecutive year.
