Tigers shut out Red Lake 10-0

Dalton Middendorf drove in three runs as the Pine River-Backus Tigers crushed the Red Lake Mustangs 10-0 in five innings Monday, May 13th.

PR-B's Irvin Tulenchik recorded two runs, an RBI and a double in the Northland Conference game. George Davidson was the winning pitcher as the Tigers enjoyed an 11-2 edge in hits.

PR-B, 4-3 in the conference and 4-5 overall, played Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Tuesday, May 14, and is then scheduled to host Menahga Monday, May 20.

Tigers 3, Lake of the Woods 1

On Thursday, May 9, Torry Hirschey struck out 14 as Pine River-Backus defeated visiting Lake of the Woods 3-1 in a Northwoods Conference game.

Hirschey went 2-3 with an RBI, scored a run and stole three bases. Steven Gardner also collected two hits for the Tigers.

PR-B 15, Cass Lake-Bena 0

On Tuesday, May 7, Travis Redding was the winning pitcher as PR-B blew out Cass Lake-Bena 15-0 in a Northwoods Conference game.

Redding struckout nine and walked two. He went 2-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Dalton Middendorf was 3-3 and Torry Hirschey finished 2-3 with a double and two RBIs.

The Tigers improved to 2-3 in the conference.

Tigers 21, Laporte 2

In another five-inning Northwoods Conference game on Tuesday, May 7, PR-B scored 14 times in the first inning as Corbin Knapp went 3-5 with two doubles, five RBIs and three runs.

Logan Gordon earned the win against Laporte by pitching three scoreless innings, striking out six, walking none and allowing three of Laporte's four hits.

Hirschey was 3-4 with a pair of RBIs and scored three times while Gordon, Redding, George Davidson and Steven Gardner each collected two hits.
