Phillip Ingvalson, 15, from Pequot Lakes, competed in Chicago Summer Open International Brazilian Jiujitsu Federation Championship on Saturday, Aug. 12, and won the Gold Medal in his division.

Ingvalson competed in the middleweight blue belt division, winning his first match 10-0 and moving him to the final round where he submitted his opponent with a bow and arrow choke with 23 seconds left in the match.

This is Ingvalson's second win at The Chicago Open. He trains with Damian Hirtz at Alliance Jiujitsu MN and Brock Larson at START BJJ. He attends Minnesota Connections Academy.
