Area Girls Tennis: Patriots advance past Pierz

PEQUOT LAKES - Haley Wiebolt picked up her 150th career victory helping the top-seeded Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 7-0 victory over No. 4 Pierz in Friday's South Subsection 7-1A team semifinals.

Wiebolt, a six-year varsity member, became the third winningest player in Pequot history trailing only Val Meschke and Kayla Lenz.

The Pequot senior did it with a 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 singles victory. The Patriots No. 1 doubles team battled back from a first set loss to win 5-7, 6-1, 7-4.

AITKIN - Angel Beaufeaux-Mikaela Justen didn't drop a game for a straight sets No. 3 doubles win, but No. 2 Aitkin suffered a 5-2 upset by No. 3 Duluth Marshall Friday in the North Subsection 7-1A team semifinals.

Bethany Kinzer-Lydia Browning won their No. 1 doubles match 6-3, 6-0 for Aitkin, which finishes 16-6.

FARGO, N.D. - No. 1-seeded Thief River Falls eliminated the No. 8 Little Falls Flyers 6-1 in the North Subsection 8-2A team tournament Friday at Courts Plus Community Fitness.
