Area Girls Tennis: Holt wins 100th career match in Patriots' victory

PEQUOT LAKES - Sydney Holt wasn't feeling well Tuesday, but she still managed to pick up her 100th career varsity win in the Pequot Lakes Patriots' 5-2 victory over Park Rapids in their final regular-season and Mid-State Conference dual meet.
Holt moved to Pequot Lakes as a freshman from the Fridley area and has compiled a four-year career record of 100-16. She is 26-1 this year, primarily playing No. 2 singles.
Pequot coach Monica Sergent said that even though Holt wasn't feeling her best, the four-year senior letterwinner wanted to play and try to get the milestone win before the postseason starts for the Patriots later this week.
Sergent moved Holt to No. 1 doubles where she combined with regular No. 1 singles player Haley Wiebolt for a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Wiebolt is 24-4 on the season and will be seeking her 150th career win when the Patriots host Pierz 4 p.m. Friday in the semifinals of the South Subsection 7-1A tournament. Wiebolt, also a senior, is 149-30 and would join Val Meschke and Kayla Lenz as the only other Patriots in the 150-win club.
