Hello lakes area.
I am the Echo Journal's newest reporter, and I will do my best to bring you the news from Pequot Lakes, Crosslake, Breezy Point and anywhere else I may be needed.
To give you a little information about myself, I was born and raised in the small but not-too-distant town of Browerville. I am the youngest of three children born to fantastic parents.
Being a small-town kid in a small-town school gave me the opportunity to try a little bit of everything. In my time there, I was active in sports, music and a number of other things.
My acclimation to small-town living was turned on its head when I moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area to attend Minnesota State University Moorhead, where I earned a degree in history with a minor in mass communication. It was there that I found a passion for journalism, and I eventually joined the staff of the university's newspaper, the Advocate, as a sports writer.
After college I joined the staff of the West Fargo Pioneer as news/sports editor. As one of only two writers on staff, my time there taught me to be flexible and expect the unexpected.
After two years with the Pioneer, I moved here in June with my fiancee, Mackenzie, who now works as a speech therapist in Baxter. We have been together since we were juniors in high school, and in 17 days we will be getting married.
In my spare time, you may find me watching or playing almost any sport, playing my guitar or just spending time with the wife-to-be.
I am very excited and proud to serve the lakes area, and I look forward to knowing each city and its residents better.
