Jesus often taught his followers by using parables. The parable of the grain of wheat is a good example.
“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24
As we grieve the resignation of Superintendent Chris Lindholm, our community has the opportunity to learn some things about living and dying.
Like the kernel of wheat that dies to itself and becomes a new plant, so too will our friend, Chris Lindholm, find new life in his difficult decision to “let go” ... for our community’s future, his future and his own family.
Education of our children is both teaching and learning. Our excellent teaching staff knows how and what to teach. But now, in the context of conflict, teachers and students will learn unexpected lessons about life. Learning will happen as our community and teachers answer questions about equity, inclusivity and diversity.

We will discover that Superintendent Lindholm sparked a debate that is needed for our school district to grow.
So, ahead are some tough days of heartfelt conversation and reconciliation. At the same time, Superintendent Lindholm can imagine the positive changes In his life as he looks forward to a new leadership opportunity.
Indeed, here is an unexpected lesson about living and dying. Superintendent Lindholm’s resignation is not only a new beginning for the Lindholms, it is also an opportunity for new life and growth in Independent School District 186.
