On behalf of Gardiner's Hardware & Furniture in Pine River we would like to give our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Mike Hansen, the Public Works Director for the City of Pine River. Because of the negligence of the excavating company that has been "working" on the street outside of our store, combined with pouring rain on Saturday at 6 AM all the water from the street was literally pouring into our basement. Even though it was his day off Mike came right away, opened the street drain that the excavating company had left blocked, diverted the water to prevent more than 3 inches from getting into our basement and fixed our sump pump. Then he stayed another 3 hours and helped vacuum mud and water from our entire basement. This event was not even the "City's" problem (or fault), but without one word of complaint he jumped in and helped. It is what I call above and beyond the call of duty and we are extremely grateful for his heroic efforts which helped minimize the damage.

Gary and Janice Gardiner,

Pine River
