We’re open with a brand new front parking lot and hope you’ll come in, if you haven’t yet, to see the results of the renovations that were accomplished during our winter hiatus that was before COVID-19 (was there a before?).
We are using safety recommendations that include that all patrons must wear a mask. If you don’t have one, you may purchase one from us for $1. Please come in and see us. The road work, as far as I can see, is totally complete.
Kids’ Summer Reading Contest
Since we are unable to have our usual summer reading program, kids in first through sixth grades are invited to partake in a new activity especially for the summer of 2020.
The Newbery Medal is awarded yearly to the best children’s book and our library has quite a collection of these award-winners. Children can pick up a list of the books at the library, read at least 10 of them, and, after returning the form to the library, will receive a certificate good at Dairy Queen. What fun - good reading and good eating!
Notes about this and that
The library features artists from around the area. The displays will change every two months or seasonally. Pequot Lakes’s Kevin Olson is exhibiting a selection of his cartoons now through October. Visit his display for a look at how humor can be portrayed. Also check out the east-facing Post Office wall to see Olson’s design of a cartoon depicting old Pequot.
On our display table now we have informative information on the world’s vanishing species.
