"We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives" - John F. Kennedy.

Now that the summer is well underway, this is my time to stop and say thank you.

I want to thank the families who entrust us with their children each day. Your kids are a gift and I cherish the opportunity to spend the school year with them.

Thank you to the parents and others who take time out of their busy lives to help our school all year in any number of ways. We appreciate the extra support you provide to our students and teachers.

Thank you to our staff members who work so hard to make the school a good place to learn. They all work well beyond the requirements of their various assignments, helping the kids to be the best they can be. Not only do staff spend extra time on their work during the school year, but summer finds many of our staff engaging in professional development opportunities to continue to improve on what they do.

Thank you to a community that continues to step up in support of our school. Recently, we held the eighth annual Evening for Education event at Moonlite Bay. Thanks to Richard and Jess Eide, all of the volunteers, committees and others, we raised over $39,000 to go toward our playground construction. I can't think of another school our size that generates the level of support we do. Thank you all so much!

As I write this message our students have been out of school for a month. My hope is that the time away from school will be energizing and fun for our students and their families.

Even though the students are away for now, preparations are well underway for fall 2019. There are new staff members coming on board, rooms that are being reassigned, a new kindergarten classroom being added and a new playground.

On the subject of the new playground, we have set Aug. 6-8 as playground build days. We are seeking volunteers to assist in the preparation and construction of the playground areas. If you are at all interested in lending a hand on construction day, please contact the school at 218-692-5437 and leave us your name and other contact information as well as how you might be able to support the build.

In addition, our fundraising efforts are still going on. If you would like to contribute at all to the playground construction project, please contact us at the school.

On behalf of the staff at CCS I want to extend my deepest gratitude and wish you all a wonderful rest of summer. Enjoy all our beautiful area has to offer.

And to our students: Read!

Have a great summer folks.
