Herbert Winch

Herbert John Winch of Pequot Lakes passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born to Daniel and Mary Winch on February 22, 1940 in Chili, WI. He married Beverly Brook on June 25, 1960.

Herb is survived by his loving wife, Bev; son, Rodney (Laura); daughters, Debra Knutson (Russ), Barbra Bosch (Alan) and Sandra Winch; grandchildren: Dana, Daniel, Dawn, Derek, Cristofer, Eric, Alex, Michael, Tyler, Mikaila, Graceson, and Josiah; great grandchildren: Aubrie, Odeyah, Briac, Luxan, Lucca, Izzy, Mason, and Aurora; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sister.

Herb was the most hard-working person that you could have met. He started out working as a mechanic in Wisconsin and continued this line of work when he and his wife moved to Minnesota in the mid 60’s. He also worked with the DNR and Bi-Cap before starting his own construction business, Herb’s Construction. The only time he would take off work was to go deer hunting. Herb also served on the Maple Township board for many years and was very passionate about community gatherings. One of his highlights was the township picnics.

He lived for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was never happier than when his “little ones” were around. Herb was incredibly proud of his 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was active in his community and impacted all who met him. He will be missed dearly.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 16, 2021 at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. Social gathering will start at 12 pm followed by the service at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Mayo Creek Cemetery off County Road 1.
