Born Verna Bell Houser (Bell, the middle name of a beloved aunt, loved the aunt, hated the name.) daughter of Charles and Edna (Pitlick) Houser of Pine River, MN. Verna succumbed to cancer April 24th 2020, at her residence in Port Hueneme, Ca. A graduate of the class of 1958, she was voted Most Changed by her fellow alumni at their fiftieth class reunion. A personable and accomplished individual, she was a woman of extraordinary interests and talents who painted, traveled the world, ballroom and belly danced and was playfully known as The News Letter Lady, in her position at The Port Hueneme Mercedes Club, and drove a Thunderbird. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Eason of Raleigh, NC., parents, brother Raymond Houser, sister Hazel Gjertson and nephew Fredrick Smith. She is survived by brother Charles and Sister-in-Law Ok Cha (Kim) Houser of San Antonio, TX., Nephews: Donald Norman and Bob Houser, Pine River, MN., Shawn Elliott, Columbia, SC., and Brandon Houser, and Ian Kohanke. San Antonio, TX. Nieces: Reva Houser Tyssedal, Embarrass, MN., Eva Houser Shain, Gilbert, MN., Anita Norman Strong, Virginia City, NV., Laura Gjertson Hoeft, Grand Forks, ND., Crystal Houser Kohanke, and Rose Houser Disch, San Antonio, TX. She will be interred next to her husband at the MontLawn Memorial Park, Cemetery, Raleigh NC. Verna was admired by many, respected by all, and dearly loved. All are more for having known her.
