Robert O Uppgaard, DDS, (U of MN School of Dentistry class of 1953) ended his Earth journey on Dec. 30, 2019 with family by his side. Originally from Minneapolis, he became a legend in the Brainerd Lakes area. Dr. Bob, with his wife, Barbara, rescued 100 acres from development and donated the land to the MN Land Trust and DNR for a Landscape for Wildlife and Uppgaard Wildlife Management Area. They worked with the community to establish medical clinics in Pequot Lakes and Crosslake, and the Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts Center at Pequot Lakes High School. Dr. Bob was a Life Trustee for Deep Portage Learning Center. After retiring from clinical practice, he continued to help people around the world suffering from TMJ disorders. In recent years, Dr Bob enjoyed sharing lessons from his WWII US Navy Seabees experience at area high schools on Veteran’s Day. At the age of 96, he still drove to the Crosslake Community Center daily to work out with friends in the Fitness Center, read his newspapers in the Library, and have lunch provided by Meals on Wheels. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 1-3 PM at Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Dr, Richfield, MN 55423.
