Manford Gregory

Manford Wellington Gregory was born on September 20, 1927, to Walter and Mary Gregory of Backus, MN, and passed away on April 16, 2021. He attended Mildred Public School and graduated from Pine River in 1945. He later attended the Dunwoody College of Technology. From 1945 to 1948, he served in the Navy as a radio operator stationed on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

On April 11, 1953, he married Arlita Uhlig and they were blessed with three children, Wayne, Rosemary, and Tamara. The majority of his career was as an Independent Insurance agent in the Pine River area. He was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Churches of Gloria Dei in Pequot Lakes and Emmanuel in Backus where he was baptized, wed, and will receive end of life blessing.

Manford is survived by his wife of 68 years, Arlita; children: Wayne (Traci) Gregory, Rosemary (Douglas) De Blieck, Tamara Gregory; grandchildren: Theresa (Adam) De Blieck House, Matthew (Michelle) De Blieck, Christina Gregory, Anastasia Gregory; great grandchild, Lana Rose House; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Chesley, Stanley and Garvin.

A private family funeral service will be held followed by interment at the Ponto Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Backus or an organization of your choice. Arrangements with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
