Katherine Rutt
Katherine Patricia Rutt (“Pat”) passed away on May 31, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pine River, MN while surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 9th at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, MN, with Jim Rogers presiding. Pat was born to Norman and Helen (Douglas) Syse on November 3, 1927, in Minneapolis, MN. She was very proud of her Norwegian and Scotch Irish heritage, and grew up in Minnesota while graduating from Cambridge High School in 1945. She then studied at the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She raised her family in Minneapolis, and was employed at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for nearly 25 years before retiring. After she retired, she moved to the Pequot Lakes area with her son Roger (whom she loved very dearly). Pat’s passion for art took her around the world, and her artwork continued to evolve through the Cyd Walker and Rose Edin Workshops. She was a successful artist, and her favorite medium was watercolors with local landscapes and scenery. She was a proud member of the Breezy Point Women’s Club, and cherished her time with them throughout the years. She welcomed new adventures when it came to traveling or being outdoors, and also loved to cook. She had a sweet tooth when it came to baking. Her “Lefse” and Apple Pie were amazing! She also loved spending time with family and friends, especially her great grandchildren whom brought much joy to her life.
Pat is survived by her brother, Robert E. Syse, two daughters Deborah Rutt and Barbara Krueger, her granddaughter, Vanessa Krueger, grandson, Jason Krueger, granddaughter-in-law, Tori Krueger, great-grandson, Oliver Krueger, great-grandson, Aksel Krueger, grandson, Jesse Krueger, great-grandson Aiden Krueger, great-granddaughter Isabella Krueger, former granddaughter-in-law, Leigh Krueger, former son-in-law Duane Krueger, niece, Roxanne Ricci, niece, Sue Redfield, niece, Nancy Syse, niece, Nicole McLaughlin, nephew, Neil Syse, nephew, Michael Syse, nephew, Robert Syse, Jr., nephew, Frank Syse, nephew, Mark Chulik, cousin, Martha Vickery, and by many others that are dearly loved.
Pat was preceded in death by her son, Roger Norman Rutt, former spouse, Roger Merlin Rutt, mother, Helen (Douglas) Syse, father, Norman P. Syse, stepmother, Marion Syse, sister, Mary Chulik, brother, Norman Syse, and by many others that are dearly loved.
