Sandy Chatriand Kuschel

Sandy Chatriand Kuschel

Our loving mother, Sandy Chatriand Kuschel left this earth to begin her heavenly journey, on March 12, 2019.

Sandy was born in Butte, Mt. January 21, 1947 to Joseph and Betty Mae Chatriand. She was the oldest and only girl of 4 children.

She attended Monroe Elementary School, East Junior High and Butte High School, graduating in 1965. After graduating, Sandy met and married her first husband, Ron Denti and moved out of state. They traveled around and settled in Minnesota and continued to live in Minnesota for the rest of her life.

Sandy was a certified medical assistant and a certified medical coder. Sandy had a successful career as a medical coder since 2006 for Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN. Prior to her career in the medical field, she wore many hats, one of the most colorful being an assistant and horse trainer for Miss Kitty/Amanda Blake of Gunsmoke fame at her ranch in Arizona.

Sandy enjoyed sharing her expertise on life with others, as a volunteer. She was a Girl Scout leader and area director for many years. She was an active member and acting president of the Garrison Lioness Club in Minnesota, doing community service. She received the Lioness Year of the Child award in 1979. Sandy volunteered at her daughter Dena's elementary school and was Dena's biggest supporter and the best "dance mom" for the past 43 years while Dena competed and coached.

Sandy married Ron Denti in 1966 and from this union, their only child Dena was born. She later married Dude Kuschel in Minnesota and remained with him until his death in 2001. Sandy remained in Minnesota where her daughter and family lived.

Sandy enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. Her favorite place to visit was Butte, MT. Her great joy in life was spending time with her family in Minnesota, but her greatest joy was spending time with her only grandchild, Matthew. Sandy had a large extended family in Montana, and truly loved her visits home to Butte.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Betty Chatriand, and her step-mother, Betty Jean. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Rick and Gary, and her step-brothers Chuck Willoughby, Jack Willoughby and Randy Willoughby.

Sandy is survived by her daughter Dena (Dan) Pribbenow of Minnesota. She is survived by her only grandson Matthew Pribbenow. She is also survived by her brother Ron (Susan) Chatriand of Butte, step-sister Sandy Hutchins of Arizona, sisters-in-law Lacrecia Chatriand, and Shirley Willoughby of Butte. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Above all, she will be remembered for her devotion to her family, especially her Daughter Dena and son-in-law Dan and her grandson Matthew. The last 10 years of her life she would say were her best because she got to be a grandmother to the light of her life, her grandson Matthew. They were very close, and she loved him more than life itself.

There will be a celebration of Sandy's life on Saturday 3/16/19 11:00 am at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd, MN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. There will be services at a later date for her Montana family and friends in Butte. Arrangements with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home.
