Woman dies after being pinned under car along North Shore

LUTSEN, Minn. -- The victim of a fluke accident along the North Shore near Lutsen that occurred on Monday evening has been identified.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said Dayna Lynn Anderson, 59, of Edina, Minn., died when she was pinned under the vehicle she had been driving on Cascade Beach Road around 6:30 p.m.

A passenger, Julie Anne Fasciana of St. Paul, was uninjured.

The sheriff’s office said the women had been exploring potential vacation cabins when they had difficulty trying to release the emergency brake to exit a steep private driveway. It’s believed Anderson became pinned beneath her Toyota Camry when it rolled off the edge of the driveway.

“This is a terribly tragic fluke accident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim and parties involved,” Sheriff Pat Eliasen said.
