The Whitefish Chain Yacht Club's annual fall dinner brought members together to introduce new board member David Gahn.

"David's experience in business as owner of Crosslake Canvas and Upholstery will bring new energy to our existing board of directors," Commodore John Pribyl said.

Along with the introduction of Gahn to the group of yacht club attendees, Pribyl told of a new initiative to raise funds from members and visitors so that all buoys in the Whitefish Chain of Lakes are lighted.

"We received $1,000 from Jesse and Rich Eide of Moonlite Bay Restaurant, from the cardboard boat races in August. We are using these funds to kick-start our fundraising to buy and retrofit our existing buoys to all being lighted to assist in nighttime navigation. Our objective is to raise $10,000 from our community so that the WCYC can continue to promote water safety by providing these buoys in the chain," Pribyl said.

The WCYC will match the $10,000 donated.

Along with providing buoys in the Whitefish Chain, the WCYC provides youth boating classes, youth swimming classes and classes especially geared for women called Women at the Helm.

All of these initiatives are done with partners committed to the WCYC mission of providing boating and water safety for its members and visitors to the Whitefish Chain.
