Since 1959, the Welcome Wannigan has delivered free coffee and doughnuts to fishermen on Gull Lake on the opening day of the walleye and northern pike season.
Saturday, May 9, the Nisswa Chamber participated in the annual tradition with Jay Chaney, owner of Boats and Beyond, piloting the pontoon that delivered coffee courtesy of the Adirondack and doughnuts courtesy of Schaefer's Foods. On board were Shawn Hansen, Heidi Kramer and Rachel Robinson of the Nisswa Chamber; Lee Seipp and Gina Meixner; and Miss Nisswa Lizzy Thurlow, Little Miss Nisswa Izzy Smith and helper Calia Chaney.
