Vandals topple monuments in Brainerd's Evergreen Cemetery

The Evergreen Cemetery Association stated 24 monuments were toppled at the cemetery in northeast Brainerd sometime in the night or early morning hours May 29-30.

The association posted on its Facebook page that nothing appeared to be broken as the upright monuments landed in grassy areas and separated, by design, from their bases to minimize damage.

"A few of the older monuments look like they broke apart but they were separate pieces to begin with," the association stated.
