Pine River-Backus Community Education offers the following upcoming classes. Register online at prbschools.revtrak.net or call 218-587-2080.

• Off to the Races: 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, Pine River-Backus Elementary School Room 34. Fee: $5.

Improved materials for pepper boats, toy cars and water races will be used. Race for fun and/or speed. Instructor will be Mary Jo Litke.

• Beads: 3-5:15 p.m. Thursday, April 26, Pine River-Backus High School Room 255. Fee: $5.

Participate in three different kinds of beading. Instructor will be Amber Haegele.

• Write On: 6 p.m. Tuesdays, May 1, 8 and 15, Pine River-Backus media center. Fee: $20.

This class will challenge participants with new writing experiences to explore and stretch their abilities. Participants should bring a notebook and a sense of adventure. Participants will receive several handouts and writing exercises.

Instructor Kris Kayser has been writing for several years and has been published in the past but now writes for her own enjoyment.

• "Alice in Wonderland": 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 4-5, 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, Pine River-Backus High School stage. Tickets: $8 per person or $5 per student or senior (60 and up).

More than 30 local cast members will perform in Brainerd Duffield's version of "Alice in Wonderland." This production is a full length play, not a musical.
