After opening under the southern water tower off Pillsbury Avenue in Pequot Lakes in the summer of 2015, the Babinski-Wilson Dog Park had its first trees planted Monday, May 2.
The park was built in part because of the efforts of Pequot Lakes High School junior Sheridan Wilson, who presented her ideas for a park to the Pequot Lakes City Council and spearheaded a fundraising effort.
In total, roughly $1,000 was raised for the park, and the Babinski family donated and installed the fence surrounding the park.
The two trees - which now provide some shade at each end of the park - were paid for with the leftover donation money.
Wilson said the park's traffic has been consistent since its opening, with some "dog people" coming from as far as Crosslake on a regular basis.
