The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) can help landowners with woodland management plans and property tax relief options.
"We currently have funds to help landowners develop a plan for their woods of 20 acres or more, attract wildlife and improve their property. This spring is the perfect time to think about programs that are available to private landowners for woodland management," said Darren Mayers, SWCD district technician and certified forest stewardship plan writer in the Brainerd SWCD office.
Funding assistance is only available for a limited area but a plan can be written for a landowner anywhere in the county at an additional cost. See the map for funding assistance areas at

To sign up for this program, contact Mayers at darren.mayers@crowwingswcd.org or 218-828-6197. Once a landowner has a plan, he or she may be eligible for tax savings and an annual land payment.
