Superintendent of the Pine River-Backus School District Catherine Bettino announced her resignation at the Oct. 19 school board meeting.
“My career here has been rich, but I also have to speak to my happiness and my new dreams,” Bettino said, after describing her childhood dreams of being a teacher.
Bettino's resignation will be effective June 30, 2016. Bettino said she and her husband will see the country, spend winters in Florida with family and friends and possibly see Italy.
The board began the process to find a replacement by agreeing to contract out the services of finding a replacement to an objective organization.
