Area students are invited to a Summer Engineering and Manufacturing Camp, or SEaM Camp, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 10-14, at Central Lakes College's Staples campus. The camp provides students in grades 6-12 with an opportunity to experience hands-on electronics, motor controllers, computer aided drafting, manufacturing machining and robotics automated systems. Students build "battlebots," all while gaining instruction in computer aided drafting and robotics automated systems.
At the end of the week, students will compete in a battlebot competition, including an obstacle course, robot hockey and the battlebot demolition, Awards will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place teams.
Cost is $200 per camper, and scholarships are available. Transportation from Brainerd to the Staples campus is also available. Register by June 23.
The camp is sponsored by CLC's Staples campus and the Center of Excellence of Bemidji State University.
