The Ideal Fire Department responded to a building fire at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, on Storage Road off County Road 16.
Firefighters arrived to find a storage building fully engulfed. By 8 a.m. the fire was under control and by 10:30 a.m. the departments present had extinguished any hot spots and were able to leave.
“We were able to knock the fire down and pick the building apart to get at the contents and put everything out,” said Ideal Fire Chief Rob Birkeland.
The actual cause of the fire is to be determined by a fire marshal. In addition to the Ideal Fire Department, Crosslake and Pequot Lakes fire departments responded for mutual aid. There were no injuries and no homes were destroyed.
“The turnout from all three departments was great,” Birkeland said. “We don't like fires, but with this one it wasn't anyone's house and nobody was hurt, so we're thankful for that.”
