The Crossing Arts Alliance and Brainerd Public Schools Community Education will sponsor the second annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the lower gym at the Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd.
For a fully tax-deductible $20 cash donation at the door, there will be soup and bread, and a choice of a handmade bowl to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. Proceeds will go to benefit Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen in Brainerd.
Food donors include Prairie Bay, Iven's on the Bay, Ernie's, Connie's Kitchen, Northwind Grille, Country Kitchen, The Woods, Brick House Pizza & Bagel, Cub Foods, Culligan, Kemps and SuperOne Foods.
Potters donating handmade bowls are Haddie Hadachek, Midori Marcum, Dan Devine, Paul Bloom, Ruth Anne Weaver, Kevin Matthews, Bonnie Fercho, Cyrus Swann, Bob Johnson, Lea Anderson, Tim Nelson and Mike Weiss.
"Language of Clay," an exhibit highlighting the work of the donating potters, will be open in The Crossing Arts Gallery during the event. This exhibit will run through Nov. 6 with a closing reception from 5-7 p.m. that day.
