The Pine River-Backus Family Center held its annual fundraiser Dec. 5 at the Salty Dog Restaurant in Backus.
Each December in cooperation with Hubbard Broadcasting, the family center works with a local restaurant, law enforcement, family center staff and the community to raise awareness and money to help end child abuse.
The Salty Dog and the Sewall family served over 100 pulled pork meals earning $800 and received $414 in tips/donations. Team members included Cass County law enforcement, Hubbard Broadcasting and Salty Dog Restaurant owners Tom and Carrie Sewall with family members and two PR-B students.
Over 100 community members attended for a meal and to support the family center's work. The family center is a collaborative effort that strives to provide local children and their families with support they need to function as strong, healthy family units.
